I love the 20s and enjoyed visiting the magical era through this book!! Sometimes you really DON’T get what you want. Fabulous review Leanna, now I want to run to the bookstore just to read the prologue!

This particular volume of hers goung two girls from a mid-western town who run away for the big city. Jan 25, Gemma rated it really liked it. I enjoyed this book and plan on continuing the series.

Not that I mind reading young adult thihgs read more than my fair share, probably–but in this case, the setting seemed a bit sanitized. And so while I didn’t have a favorite character, I also can’t say I openly hated or despised any one of them.

Bright Young Things Series
I think I’ll thinggs off on reading Bright Young Things though because it sounds like I’m going to have the same experience with it as I did with the Luxe series – like it but not enough to continue reading the series. Empty-headed girls, unattractive boys, a weirdly fake background that has almost no connection to the real Twenties world.

Anonymous 20 December at Paulette was so sweet and big-sisterly to Letty What I learned from Rumors was that Anna Godbersen isn’t afraid to tear apart your heart.
At first, it was rather jarring, but then I got the flow of it and actually kinda liked it. These women flocked to the city along with thousands of others during prohibition thinsg hemlines were higher, the morals were looser, the gin flowed freely, and it was where anyone who had grown too big for their small town went to escape their drab lives in favor of something flashier.
Aside from good characters, a good plot, and people you care about.
On the night after her unwanted wedding, Cordelia Grey and her friend, Letty Larkspur, take a one-way train to the glamorous New York to live the lives they’ve always dreamed of. Gosbersen course there are overwrought moments — runaway new brides, bootlegger parties, murders, a mother who consorts with boys her daughter’s age, a girl who is unwillingly roped into a striptease One of them could be considered ‘poor’ but she still wears pretty dresses and drinks champagne at parties and doesn’t ever really face the struggles real time period poor girls younv have.
Oh, and she has a dog named Good Egg.
